Duration: 2 hours
Tomb of Annia Regilla, Nympheum of Egeria, Casale della Vaccareccia, Church of Sant’Urbano and Sacred Wood
We are Romans. We are Italians. Being born and living in Italy is a blessing: in Rome, it is a privilege.
This itinerary takes us through the regional park of the Caffarella, where history and nature are fused together in perfect harmony. We will see the most beautiful landmarks in the valley such as the lake, the water pathway, the springs of the Almone river, and the constructions that earned the place the name of “valle marmoreal” (The Marble Valley): The Vaccareccia House (where a working farm sells local ricotta cheese), the former windmill House, the Nympheum of Egeria (II century AD, where according to the legend king Numa Pompilius used to meet with nymph Egeria), the church of Sant’Urbano (an old temple of Ceres) and finally cisterns and towers dating back to the Middle Ages.
We will spend two memorable hours surrounded by the vibrant green of this unspoilt park.
